Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications are now open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the subsequent criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a house which has a combined gross house income that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined household profits will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and wish not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the proper Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are finding out or plan to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last nsfas check day.
